On Tuesday August 20th, 2019 Central Co-operative Credit Union Ltd awarded four (4) scholarships to successful students of the Grade Six (6) National Assessment Exams. Two (2) of these scholarships are based on Need and the other two (2) are based on Merit. To date the society has awarded scholarships to 40 students.
The recipients of the 2019 scholarships are Mindy Leblanc of Roosevelt Douglas Primary School & Dernel Kyra Edwards of St. Martin Primary School both awarded on Merit. Naeem Ryan Bannis of Roosevelt Douglas Primary & Shernisha Seaman of Roseau Primary scholarship were both awarded on Need.
The students received encouraging words during the Scholarship Award Ceremony. Acting General Manager of Central Co-operative Credit Union Ltd Mrs. Glenda Smith-Baron reminded the students that the onus is on them to decide where their path leads to. She also told the students that they can never dream too big, they can only dream their size; continue to dream but they should work hard to achieve those dreams.
The Central Co-operative Credit Union Ltd Secondary Schools Scholarship Program began 9 years ago. HR Officer at Central Co-operative Credit Union Ltd Leandra Belle-Charles informed the students though their educational journey may be challenging, always remember that it is true perseverance and determination that propels them closer to success. The students who have been awarded these scholarships has performed relatively well over the years. CCCUL Scholarship recipients excelled in 2015 & 2016 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) Examinations. D’Jana Wyllis of the Convent High School and Darnisha Langlais of the Portsmouth Secondary School, both CCCUL scholarship recipients of 2012, were the top students at the 2017 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examination; they were also valedictorians at their High School Graduations that year.
The Board of Directors, Management and Staff of the CCCUL congratulate all past recipients of its Secondary School Scholarship on their achievements and wish these new awardees a productive and successful academic journey.
